Lesson Information
At Porters we want everyone to get the most out of their time with us, no matter their skiing ability.
Our internationally qualified snowboard and ski instructors are friendly and fun, and they not only know how to get beginners moving with ease, but how to refine the techniques of the more advanced, whether it's skiing, snowboarding or telemarking.
Please note: These are 2022 prices, 2023 pricing TBC.
Bookings for lessons on the mountain will close 30 minutes before the lesson commences.
Purchasing your package online does not secure your spot in a lesson. To book in for these please contact Guest Services (office@skiporters.co.nz) one day prior to lesson date for group lessons, or one week prior for private lessons.
Ski Play
Group lessons tailored to the needs of children aged 3-5 years old. At this age, children are still developing muscles, motor and social skills. Ski lessons include learning how to ski with a focus on playing in the snow. Not every child can keep their attention towards skiing for longer than 30 minutes, so we alternate between playing games (building forts and snowmen, throwing snowballs) and skiing for 1.5 hours. Once your child has improved towards the platter and chairlift area, it is recommended to take private lessons until they are old enough for youth group lessons.

First Timer
Group lessons tailored to the needs of adults and children 5 years and up. Never been on snow before or forgotten the basics? Our instructor team will get you gliding on the snow in no-time. Lessons take place at the magic carpet where you will learn how to stop and turn with your skis and stay in control of your speed. Once the whole group is able and comfortable with their skiing, the lesson will proceed to different terrain. These beginner lessons are not suited for anyone who already knows how to stop and turn.
Do you already know how to stop and turn but not quite ready for the chairlift yet? Take a private lesson before going into the intermediate group lessons and cruise down Easy Street within an hour!

Easy Rider
Group lessons tailored to the needs of intermediate skiing level adults and children aged 7 years and up. Can’t get rid of your snow plough turns? Still not comfortable skiing down Easy Street? Do you know how to take the chairlift but not quite ready for the T-bars? Let our instructor team help you with that extra push you need to be able to enjoy the whole mountain and witness the views of Sundance. These lessons start at the platter area to have a warm-up before heading to the chairlift. Lessons will focus on overall technique, skiing more varied terrain and exploring the mountain with confidence.
Do you know how to stop and turn but not quite ready for the Easy Rider Chairlift? Take a private lesson to close the gap!
