Snow Report
Last update: Tuesday, 8th Sep 2026
Porters is open with all lifts spinning from 9am.
It’s looking like we are in for a special day. We received about 20-25cm of new snow on the upper mountain over the last two days, and 5-10cm on the lower mountain. There will be some very good skiing and riding to be had today. It will be worth the effort to pay us a visit.
At 5:45am the temperature in the base area is 0 degrees. There is a light north westerly breeze, increasing a bit at upper elevations. Winds may increase to moderate on the upper mountain this afternoon. Skies are clear this morning.
It's going to be a sunny day with great snow. Today will be one of the best days of this season, and a welcome return to winter after the recent run of windy weather.
In terms of terrain on offer today, we have not groomed Sundance. There is 20-30cm of fresh snow around this part of the mountain and on Leaper, which came straight down without much wind. We have groomed McNultys, down into Stellar Cat Track and Easy Street, the Platter and Magic Carpet areas.
We hope to get Bluff Face open this morning, and our patrol team will be progressively opening as much terrain as possible. Please note that there was thin cover in some areas off trail before the recent storm, so please ski and ride with caution.
Chains are not required for our access road today. We recommend that all vehicles carry chains in winter, as conditions can change rapidly.
Our free shuttle service will be doing return trips throughout the day, picking up at Chain Bay 2 at 9:30am and 10:30am. Return shuttles will be available all afternoon.
Porters Lodge Restaurant and Bar will be closed today.
Snowplay is closed.
