Snow Report
Last update: Thursday, 9th Jul 2026
Closed today. The storm of the last few days is just starting to clear at 9:30am.
Overnight, we had another 20cm of snow, which came with a healthy dose of wind. Our precip gauge on the mountain has recorded 120mm since Sunday, so we are estimating the storm total as around 120cm of snow.
There has been a lot of wind throughout this storm, so there are wind stripped areas and deep drifts around the ski area.
With clearing skies expected today, we are going to try to get access to our base area, and begin road and car park clearance. We also hope to get our generators on, which will bring our mountain web cams back online.
Once we are able to safely access the ski area, our Snow Safety Team will be able to get a better look at where all the snow has ended up, and commence control work.
At this stage, we do not have an update on when we expect to open, but we will have a clearer idea of this by tomorrow morning. There is likely to be a lot of work to do to get the ski area operational – it has been a big storm.
Snowplay at Porters Lodge, Restaurant and Bar will be running from 10am Friday and throughout the weekend. The weather forecast for the long weekend is great, there is plenty of snow around the Lodge, so get on up and enjoy a stunning day in the mountains and some fun with the family.
We will keep the updates coming around opening plans for the ski area on the snow report and our socials.
The access road from the highway to the lodge has been cleared of snow and is fine to drive in a 4WD vehicle. If you have a 2WD vehicle or a camper van or are not confident driving in snow, give the lodge a call for assistance at 03 318 4011. We will update on the road conditions again tomorrow morning.
There is no access to the ski area today. We will be undertaking control work and there is machinery operating.
