Porters is open with all lifts spinning from 9am.

At 5:45am, the temperature in the base area is 0 degrees. There is a light south westerly breeze on the lower mountain, which is a little bit stronger at higher elevations. Skies are clear, visibility is great, and these conditions are expected to continue all day. It’s going to be a stunner, and with plenty of new snow this week, there will be some great skiing and riding, especially on the mid and upper mountain.

We have groomed Sundance, Mcnultys, Stellar Cat Track, Easy Street, the Platter and Magic Carpet. We expect to open Bluff Face this morning. Off trail has plenty of available terrain, but there are rocks lurking in places, so please ski and ride with care.

Chains are not required for our access road today. We recommend that all vehicles carry chains in winter, as conditions can change rapidly.

Our shuttle service will be running return trips throughout the day picking up at Chain Bay 2, and the Lodge on request, at 8:45am, 9:30am, 10am, 10:30am and 11:00am.


Porters Lodge Restaurant and Bar will be open for coffee from 10am and meals from 11am. Porters Lodge will close for the season, tomorrow.

AN UPDATE ON THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON

We have had a great week, enjoying two of the best powder days of the season and there were a lot of smiles from those who we lucky enough to get up to Porters to enjoy it.

The forecast for tomorrow and Monday is looking great, and we expect to be operational through to Monday. After Monday there is some weather on the way, but exactly what that will be is too far away to have any certainty over. At this stage it’s looking like a couple of very warm days, then some rain, then some snow towards the end of the week.

The current situation is that there are two sides to our end of season story. The upper mountain is in great shape. The lower mountain has a thin snowpack in places, that we have been patching and will continue to keep going as long as we can, but it’s spring, it’s sunny, and there’s only so much we can do.

If what we have goes back to ground and warms up, then even with new snow on it, we won’t be able to turn it back into skiable terrain. If we lose access on Easy Street, then we will not be able to operate the ski area.

But……we will wait and see, and things could change over the next few days, so we will keep everything crossed for the weather to go in our favour, which has happened a fair bit over the last three months.

While we still have useable terrain on the lower mountain, and the upper mountain is so good, we plan to continue operating. Realistically, this could be our last weekend of what has been an awesome season, and Monday could be the last day for 2026. But we don’t want to call it until we are sure we have to, so we will give it a good crack next week and if we can get another weekend we will. Fill your boots while you can.
